Scoresheets & Equipment (11/16/2009)

It has come to the BCLCA’s attention through a couple of recent incidents that all personnel on the bench are not listed on the scoresheet. The Coaches Association has discussed this situation with the Official’s Association and the scoresheet will be checked as follows:
1. Coaches names will be looked at relative to number of staff in the coaches box. As there is only one line on the scoresheet please note other names in the blank space below. Remember that the coaches box is only for coaches that have taken a coaches clinic relative to the age group being coached or are signed up for the next available clinic. All others are considered spectators and should be on the opposite side of the field.
2. The number of players on the scoresheet will be verified to ensure only players participating in that game will be allowed to stay on the scoresheet. Players not accounted for will be scratched off.
Another matter that has been discussed with the Official’s Association is an equipment (or lack of) issue. This has been especially apparent at the U19/Junior level. The Officials are being instructed to ask the Head Coach if their team is properly equipped to play the game. All pads including shoulder pads, mouthguards and cup are a requirement. This is a risk management issue and it is in the rule book.
Please pass this information on to all the coaches in your Association or League.
